IGDA – Globaltimoto Mission Speech
Tim had just finished developing the link between UNICEF and TIGA (The Independent game Developers Association) by creating the Right To Play charity appeal. The appeal was designed to raise funds from the games industry in aid of UNICEF's End Child Exploitation campaign. The IGDA invited Tim to give a speech about the globaltimoto project and to kick start awareness about Right To Play through his mission speech at one of their regular events.
Tim took the stand after The Assembly had presented the latest version of their now fully 3D "Total War".
"Total War is one of my all time favourite games and it may interest you to know that the British play more games of war than any other nation whereas the Japanese prefer to play games that involve some form of co-operation."
Perhaps it wasn't such a surprise that most of the IGDA audience had no idea what Tim was on about with his global quest for gameplay, after all it is a big departure from developing computer games, however there were many interested in the bizarre concept and all were supportive of a fellow developer going where no other had been before.
